The SH-55 retro-fit burner is specifically designed to replace the conventional torch type burner supplied with most U.S. built 55 gallon direct fired melters manufactured through the last decade. It is also usable in some Chinese built “knock-off” units utilizing a torch type burner (check your unit dimensions for fitment). Simple sheet metal modifications to the torch entry side and bottom of the outer sheet metal surfaces are required for installation. Torch valve, hose and regulator are retained after a simple extension tube and orifice exchange is installed. Units receiving the properly installed modification will yield initial melting and recovery speeds equaling that of factory Soft Heat machines. No torch assembly to loose and no more blow-outs (metal integrity and a melting chamber free of burnt or charred material is critical in selecting a unit for modification).
